Chingola Municipal Council today held an orientation meeting for councillors on the Revised Cash for Work (R-CFW) programme aimed at equipping them with key information on the implementation of the initiative in the district.

Speaking during the orientation, Chingola District Commissioner Mr. Howard Kamwandi described the programme as one of Government’s major initiatives meant to support communities while improving public spaces. He urged all stakeholders to fully embrace the programme and encouraged all eligible Zambians to participate.

Mr. Kamwandi emphasized that participation in the programme must be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, free from any form of segregation based on political party affiliation or tribe. He further warned against demanding payments or bribes from individuals seeking to benefit from the Cash for Work programme.

He further urged the councillors and stakeholders to educate community members on the programme guidelines to prevent misinformation.

Speaking at the same meeting, His Worship the Mayor Mr. Johnson Kang’ombe commended government for the initiative, noting that the programme has helped the local authority address community works such as grass cutting and drainage maintenance.

Meanwhile, Town Clerk Mrs. Namukolo Kalufyanya said the council will implement the programme through a mass recruitment approach across all wards and highlighted improvements such as an integrated system to prevent beneficiaries from receiving multiple social protection benefits and the use of data entry clerks to ensure accurate records.
